TELL ME ABOUT YOUR THE BEGINNING!
We met through my (Nikita) cousin, Ollie. Jack, Ollie and a few other of their friends decided it would be a good idea to ride their push bikes along the Great Ocean Road with Warrnambool being the starting point. At the time I was living in Melbourne but my family home was based in Warrnambool which is where the boys were crashing for the night. A few weeks before Ollie reached out to me to see if I was going to be in Warrnambool a specific weekend, I said no but I can be if you want me to be. Ollie said yes please and bring some of your girlfriends around, which is what I did. That was the first time I met Jack. After that Jack was in Melbourne a couple of weeks later for something so we caught up again and then a few weeks after that I was in Adelaide for Ollie's 21st so crossed paths yet again. After that we flew back and forth between Melbourne and Adelaide many times before Jack moved to Melbourne for me and the rest is history.
WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU GET ENGAGED?
We got engaged in July 2019. Jack surprised me with a trip to Cairns and only told me the night before. His original plan was to wake me up at 4am the morning of our flight and tell me to pack, thank god he thought that through and opted to give me a little more time. Jack says I cried more about the holiday than I did about the proposal. And he is possibly somewhat right, I think subconsciously I knew something was going on but never with certainty suspected a proposal. Jack had some friends who lived near Cairns that he coordinated with coming in to decorate the hotel room for us so when we checked in he could pop the question. One of which who was also on a flight back to Cairns that day that was slightly delayed so added some additional complexities to Jacks big plan. Throughout the day as we were waiting for our room to be ready I threatened Jack a couple of times with saying I was going to go through his bag as everyone was suspecting a proposal after I had sent a snapchat saying Jack had surprised me with a holiday. Luckily he called my bluff and I never checked the bag as I would of found a ring. Once we checked in Jack told me to wait outside the room as he needed to check it was the right one, I again started freaking out like the night before when I got told we were going on a holiday. He eventually called me into the room where there was a balloon asking the question and Jack standing beside it with a box in hand where he then got down on one knee.
HOW DO YOU ENVISION YOUR WEDDING DAY?
We just want our day to be laid back and filled with nothing but good times.
TOP TIPS!
My top tip would be to just start off with the big ticket items (venue, photographer, videographer and celebrant) once you have those then just slowly chip away at everything else one by one. Try not to stress over anything, everything seems to fall into place as it is meant to (well it did in our case).
