A heartfelt reunion and celebration of love at Mas Girbau, Spain. Captured on digital and film by Maegan Brown Moments and Club Grain.
Some celebrations feel less like a wedding and more like a reunion of souls. Kahani & Nick’s intimate gathering at Mas Girbau in Granera, Spain was exactly that — a long-awaited meeting of their closest people from around the world, brought together not just to witness a marriage, but to celebrate connection.
Captured through a hybrid mix of digital and 35 mm film (Club Grain), their celebration was emotional, relaxed, and profoundly meaningful.
A Reunion of Their Favourite People
Before flying to Spain, Kahani & Nick legally married in Melbourne, choosing to share their vows abroad not as a formality, but as an experience — one that centred around togetherness.
They wanted to gather the people who shaped their lives — loved ones from London, Paris, India, and Melbourne — many of whom had never met before. The idea wasn’t a destination wedding; it was a beautiful reunion, a merging of families and friendships across continents.
When they found Mas Girbau, a beautifully restored stone villa in the Catalonian countryside, they knew they’d found their place. It was secluded, sun-drenched, and full of character — the perfect home for a few unforgettable days.
The Setting at Mas Girbau
For three days, everyone stayed together at Mas Girbau, a castle-like Airbnb surrounded by olive trees and rolling hills. They embraced slow meaningful moments — sharing meals, exploring the grounds, and soaking up the Spanish light.
The evening before the sharing of their vows, Kahani & Nick hosted a combined bucks and hens night. The following day, a private chef cooked an incredible feast that everyone enjoyed, featuring local Spanish cuisine favourites.
They shared their vows, surrounded by 12 of their closest people, as warm light poured across the courtyard. It was intimate, emotional, full of tears and laughter in equal measure. Later that night, they turned the villa’s basement into a makeshift dance floor — affectionately named “the rave cave” or “boiler room” — where the music and joy continued.
No formalities. It was relaxing and stress-free.
Capturing It All: Digital + Film (Club Grain)
I photographed their incredible multi-day celebration using a hybrid mix of digital and 35mm film through Club Grain, allowing each medium to bring its own energy.
Digital captured the movement — the laughter, the blur of hands mid-toast, the rhythm of people connecting and reconnecting.
Film brought the soul — warm tones, soft grain, and a sense of timelessness that felt aligned with the setting and the story.
The result was a gallery that feels both nostalgic and cinematic — a record of their favourite people, real emotion, and a beautiful story that unfolded with complete ease.
From the Couple
“Honestly, I don’t have a clue how to do this… how to put into words just what Maegan did for us. How this one-of-a-kind woman brought the most incredible vibe to our ‘microwedding’ in the Catalonian countryside. How she well and truly enmeshed herself in our intimate little crew (only 14 of us total) in a way that was really important to us – as much one of our mates as a vendor.
All of this is without even touching on the photos themselves. My goodness. My lorddddd… Maegan’s TALENT.
Being on the receiving end of her snaps – both digital and film – is another thing altogether. I cannot get over them. My husband (who usually hates being in photos) was every bit as impressed.
We will never tire of looking through our many favourites from Maegan’s galleries. We will never cease to appreciate how she balanced cruisiness with direction, how she listened, guided, and delivered the goods.
Maegan: you know this, but we simply, utterly adore you.
Anyone considering Maegan: stop considering. Make it happen. x”
— Kahani & Nick
A Celebration That Felt Like Home
Kahani & Nick’s celebration wasn’t about staging or spectacle — it was about togetherness. An intimate gathering where everyone was invited to belong.
It was a reminder that your day doesn’t need to be a huge production. They can be slow, intentional, and deeply personal — about feeling, not formality.
As a Melbourne-based photographer shooting weddings across Europe and Australia, I’m drawn to both large and intimate weddings and elopements — where friends reconnect, cultures collide, and stories unfold naturally in beautiful, fleeting light.
Planning Your Own Intimate Destination Wedding
If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding in Spain, or anywhere that feels like a home away from home, focus on what truly matters: each other, the people you love and the memories you’ll make together.
Whether it’s a private villa in the Spanish countryside or a coastal escape elsewhere in Europe, my approach remains the same — to capture emotion and atmosphere with digital and film through Club Grain, crafting imagery that feels as alive as the day itself.
